Lawyers are calling my job- I’m in credit card debt! Am i going to Jail?
How to i get them off my back? Lie and say ” I dont work here anymore!”? Am I going to jail? what would the charge me?
Yes, there are federal laws about debt collection.
You can insist that they only contact you at your home, or perhaps by mail only.
If you owe the money, stop ducking the collectors and work on a repayment plan. Even if it’s only $10/week or something for now, get some sort of plan together to try to pay them off and share this plan with your creditors.
I wouldn’t lie to them, as they are much less likely to work with you. But be honest, open your books and show them where your money is going and how you cannot afford to pay right now, but are willing to pay if they can find a way to work with you.
Your other choice is to file bankruptcy, and then they will deal with you in BK court.
Relax, you’ll be sharing a cell with some big hung horny guy in no time….he’ll "protect" you….don’t worry about it.
why are you posting your question on marriage & divorce, u might not get much help here unless you are getting divorce!!!
Tell them to stop calling you at work. If they continue to do so, it is a violation of Federal law and opens them up to civil lawsuit as well. Frankly, I doubt that it is attorneys calling you anyway. It is most likely a collection agency.
Tell them to stop calling you at work. Once you tell them that, it is against the law for them to call anymore. Then contact a credit counceling company to get yourself back on track.
dad agrees with grampa again
Yes you are…..I am the lawyer calling you……
This is harassment! YOU need to get a lawyer.
No you are not going to jail – apparently you are going to the mall!!!!! STOP IT!!! Pay your bills!
You can ask them to stop bothering you at work, bit if theyre calling you at work then youre in some serious financial trouble so its time to stop playing games with them, forget the lies, and contact a local credit counseling company and together they will get your creditors off myour back and work out a payment plan so you can get out from under your debt. Do so before they ruin your credit and could possibly charge you with fraud, theft (due to not paying) depending on amount owed them. The ball is in your court so its up to you on what you want to do. Good luck
Well i wouldnt really listen to hardly anyone on here. I hope your not going to go find a horny rich guy, Thats not cool. And as for the guy saying its not a lawyer calling you, there are debt collection agancies and most are lawyers. You need to do what the previous people said though about telling them to stop calling, that solves part of it. The next part is you getting back on track, If that means declaring bankruptcy then you might have to. I dont know how far you are in debt. It all depends.
If you need any help just talk to a co worker, or someone you actually trust not someone offline. Especially if they ask for info.
Tell them to send everything in writing and if they are lawyers you will need a letter head from their office. If they are claiming to be lawyers and are not turn them in. Once you have told them to send everything in writing they can not legally call you until they have done so. If they are lawyers all they can do is take you to court and get a judgment.
